Welcome to our Pack
Cub Scouts love to amaze and be amazed! Boys discover secrets of the magician's art this month as they demonstrate magical illusions and learn new tricks with cards, coins and other everyday objects. The Cub Scout Magic Book is a great resource for age-appropriate tricks and puzzles. Visit a magic shop or have a magician come to your den or pack meeting to teach the boys a few tricks of the trade. Prepare to watch in wonder at the pack meeting as your Cub Scouts entertain their audience with skits, stunts and sparklers that they have practiced at den meetings. The Cubmaster uses the magic of ceremonies to pull awards from his hat at the mystifying pack meeting magic show. This would be a good month to hold your pack space derby.
All Scouts, their parents and siblings are invited to attend the Pack Meetings. Boys will receive recognition for rank advancements, belt loops, pins, and more at these meetings. Pack Meetings are geared towards adding enrichment into the lives of these future leaders by giving them the opportunity to showcase their skills, display things they have done/made over the past few months, public speaking, and participation in fun activities geared towards the national Cub Scout theme for the month.
Please note: All boys MUST be in appropriate Pack 170 uniform to receive any awards. Boys approaching the front to receive awards in improper uniform will be kindly reminded that something needs to be corrected. Awards will be held until the next Pack meeting and then given to the Den leader.
It takes adult leadership to make Scouting successful. But not everyone is a born leader. And to this end, Scouting is constantly equipping adult volunteers to do a better job of leadership. Regular and customized training meetings are held to help Scout leaders be successful in their volunteering at every level of participation.
Of course we need adults who enjoy working with young people. But not everyone need work with youth to make an impact. Many areas are available to be involved and we can help tailor times and activities to fit your interest and availability.
Pack 170 is always looking to increase it's volunteer ranks. You can help in many ways at the Pack level or the Den level. We all have busy lives - but the rewards for volunteering to make the lives of our children are great. We can always use extra help even for a single event - such as the Blue and Gold Banquet, the May Graduation, and many positions at the annual Pinewood Derby. There are plenty of year-round positions as well - such as someone to coordinate publicity for the Pack in the school newsletter and the local Fishers newspaper.
Here is an example adult application. Please see our Committee Chair, Cubmaster, or your Den leader if you are interested in helping out as a volunteer - or send them an email now!.
