Wonderful opportunities are waiting! The new school year brings possibilities of
new friends. This month a Cub Scout can invite a new buddy to join the fun and
adventure of Cub Scouting! This single act can influence the lives of many
others. The boys will make new friends while keeping the old by learning to
share and treat buddies with kindness. In the den meeting the boys can learn the
value of friendship, cooperation, and respect through games and activities. This
new team of buddies can develop secret codes and write messages to each other.
They will all learn the Cub Scout handshake and motto which will signify
belonging to that special group. The boys can practice the buddy system as they
go on hikes, work on projects, play games, and participate in sports. This is a
great month for boys to earn a Cub Scout Academics or Sports belt loop or pin as
they work and play together with an interest they all share.
All Scouts, their parents and siblings are invited to attend the Pack
Meetings. Boys will receive recognition for rank advancements, belt loops, pins,
and more at these meetings. Pack Meetings are geared towards adding enrichment
into the lives of these future leaders by giving them the opportunity to
showcase their skills, display things they have done/made over the past few
months, public speaking, and participation in fun activities geared towards the
national Cub Scout theme for the month.
Please note: All boys MUST be in
appropriate Pack 170 uniform to receive any
awards. Boys approaching the front to receive awards in improper uniform will be
kindly reminded that something needs to be corrected. Awards will be held until
the next Pack meeting and then given to the Den leader.
It takes adult leadership to make Scouting successful. But not
everyone is a born leader. And to this end, Scouting is constantly
equipping adult volunteers to do a better job of leadership. Regular
and customized training meetings are held to help Scout leaders be
successful in their volunteering at every level of participation.
Of course we need adults who enjoy working with young people. But
not everyone need work with youth to make an impact. Many areas are
available to be involved and we can help tailor times and activities to
fit your interest and availability.
Pack 170 is always looking to increase it's volunteer ranks. You can
help in many ways at the Pack level or the Den level. We all have busy
lives - but the rewards for volunteering to make the lives of our
children are great. We can always use extra help even for a single
event - such as the Blue and Gold Banquet, the May Graduation, and many
positions at the annual Pinewood Derby. There are plenty of year-round
positions as well - such as someone to coordinate publicity for the
Pack in the school newsletter and the local Fishers newspaper.
Here is an example adult application. Please see our Committee
Chair, Cubmaster, or your Den leader if you are interested in helping
out as a volunteer - or send them an email now!.
